Game 54
Lolol. So. Jinx thought this game would've been a breeze. Because it's just sitting there and directing people's actions. Yeah, he felt a bit uncomfortable after a while because he remembered that this is Surgeon and his games aren't simple and losing means punishment etc, etc, etc. And then Poison lost an eye and Jinx was really hoping these people on the computer weren't actual people.
... of course it turned out that the characters were the Orion team and that... just kind of killed any sort of "want to win for memories" kind of incentive. Yes, he was hoping for the possibility of getting a memory, but the priority was first and foremost: Get Orion Out Of That Game Alive. Which they all succeeded in! So that was a point to them in Jinx's book. Throughout the game, however, Jinx had those moments of "I should GET this but I DON'T!" and "Why am I making stupid mistakes?!" and of course, there was the whole eating some jerky, taking Jim's badge, and Hako's piece of flint and after Orion got out of the game, MASSIVE guilt trip.
Jinx knew the other teams would help Orion get back on their feet and he was really too tired and depressed about not getting any memories (though relieved that none of Orion died), so he decided to tell Jim about his misdeeds. Which he had been hoping would kind of assuage the guilt some. Lol, no. Jim made it worse, telling him about Chaz's tendency to need a lot of food and well, jeez. What can Jinx do to make up for this? Give up his week's worth of jerky rations. Of course that is the obvious answer. Problem solved!
Lessons Learned
- He doesn't do the "make things even" thing Jim mentions. If he makes up for mistakes, he does it twice over.
- Jim's a pretty good leader despite what he mght say about making mistakes.
- Jace and Red are pretty damn smart, reliable people.
- Teams do work together outside of games but not often in games.
- His team's very important to him--he just doesn't place much value on himself and is willing to volunteer for team "punishments".
- Shiny things can get you into trouble.
( AFTERMATH AND STATE OF UNION )
