on : ... IT'S COMPLICATED.

Okay, so basically, coming back from the Pillar was rough and disorientating but Trixie and Chika were around to try to make things better by dragging him around with them and letting him bunk with them (though he was probably pretty tsuntsuntsundere about the whole thing, allowing it but being :/ the whole while). These are all very positive things in Trixie's favor. It has definitely made Jinx like her more since, before going to the Pillar, their relationship was a bit rocky thanks to that rude reminder of trauma that was in her heart that one time. He's always been fond of Trixie but has never really been able to properly express it the same way Kaito or Kid might have. But these things have been bringing out there dere in him, slowly but surely.

And then things happened and Allen got himself and Kaito killed in Gambler's game and Trixie spun a roulette and Kaito was revived without his sight.

TO BE HONEST, Jinx would have been fine with this. He constantly tells himself that he can adapt to pretty much any situation. Kaito had been the one to say that he makes his own luck, Kid had been the one to say that he can solve pretty much any puzzle put before him, but Jinx was the one to say that he could adapt to it, that he was fine with what was going on. The truth of the matter was? IT IS ALL ABOUT BELIEVING IN THE LIE. While Jinx WOULD HAVE BEEN fine with it, he wasn't quite to that point yet and was more instinctively confused, dismay, and terrified about being in this condition. And it wasn't only him having that kneejerk reaction. The other two-thirds of him were very much upset about this development as well. But coping mechanism say SMILE UNTIL THE SMILE IS REAL. Thus the ACT LIKE YOU ARE COOL WITH IT UNTIL YOU ARE approach. Which, if left on his own, would have worked! Eventually!

And then Trixie used his disability to her advantage and pressed about things Jinx just frankly does not want to talk about a lot of the time. Now remember, Jinx before going to the Pillar had existential issues involving whether or not he'll be able to remain as he is (i.e. separate but equal to Kid and Kaito) or whether or not he'll get taken out one of these days. So Jinx, over all, does not like it when his weaknesses are exploited. It has happened on a fair few occasions while in Sabra and very few of those occasions have ended positively. This is why Jinx got so angry with Trixie as she pushed him for answers: he's running scared, except he can't run because he can't SEE. It's also a response that both Kid and Kaito have to some extent. All three of them AVOID and OUTRUN their problems, their enemies, but in this instance, they COULDN'T.

And yet, it was an effective approach to get anything out of Jinx that he would otherwise would have made Trixie work even harder for. This was a GOOD THING, Jinx knows intellectually, but on an emotional and instinctive survival level, he feels vulnerable and thus still feels a bit upset about it, but it fell into more of a sulk after some time. Kid and Kaito both were able to recover from it and try to get Jinx to buck up--

And then Trixie essentially said "Let's throw Monoceros to the terapedes."

...

LOL. ALL THE GUILTY PINGS WITH MONOCEROS JINX HAS. TRIXIE TRIPPED THEM WITH THAT ONE STATEMENT.
